Asia’s best clubs go head-to-head in Utsunomiya and Okinawa, Japan March 1-5, 2023

Hong Kong SAR,January 10, 2023– East Asia Super League (EASL) has released the full schedule for the upcoming EASL Champions Week, taking place in Utsunomiya and Okinawa, Japan March 1-5, 2023. The league’s eight participating teams will battle for the Championship and lucrative cash prizes. The first-place team will receive USD 250,000, while the runner-up and third place teams will receive USD100,000 and USD 50,000, respectively.

 

“EASL is excited to hold EASL Champions Week in Japan, in collaboration with the B.LEAGUE after over three years of no games on the court due to COVID.” said EASL CEO Matt Beyer. “Basketball continues to rise inpopularity in Japan and across the region, and EASL Champions will provide a foundation for our home-and-away season beginning in October 2023.”
 

A total of 10 games will be played in Japan from March 1-5, 2023. The reigning Japan B.LEAGUE champions, Utsunomiya Brex, will host the first six games of the Group Stage. The Ryukyu Golden Kings will host four games total; two Group Stage games as well as the Championship and third-place game on March 5 in Okinawa in their new stadium, which is also a 2023 FIBA World Cup venue.

"We are pleased to be able to hold EASL Champions Week as a home event for the Ryukyu Golden Kings and Utsunomiya Brex. I hope Japanese basketball fans will enjoy it and support the teams during their B.LEAGUE season and during EASL Champions Week as the two B.LEAGUE teams are aiming to be number one in East Asia."
