This matchup represents a do-or-die scenario for Meralco in the EASL postseason race.

However, Meralco’s qualification scenario for the EASL Finals is also impacted by the result of the February 4 game between Ryukyu Golden Kings and Taoyuan Pauian Pilots, scheduled to be played in Okinawa:

  • If Ryukyu LOSES to Taoyuan, Meralco will qualify with a win on February 11.
  • If Ryukyu DEFEATS Taoyuan, Meralco must defeat Ryukyu by more than NINE points on February 11 to secure qualification. This is due to the Bolts’ earlier season loss to Ryukyu (72-81 Oct. 22, 2025).

On the Ryukyu Golden Kings’ side, here are the following scenarios over its next two games:

  • If Ryukyu loses to Taoyuan on February 4 and then loses to Meralco, Ryukyu will be eliminated from postseason contention.
  • If Ryukyu defeats Taoyuan but loses to Meralco, Taoyuan, Ryukyu, and Meralco would finish level, creating a three-way tie that would require the application of additional EASL tiebreaker rules. Details on the applicable tiebreaker scenarios will be communicated to the media shortly.
  • If Ryukyu defeats Taoyuan and then defeats Meralco, Ryukyu and Taoyuan will advance to the postseason, with Taoyuan qualifying based on its point differential advantage over Meralco.

EASL remains committed to delivering the best possible game day experience for fans, teams, and partners. EASL sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this venue change may cause and appreciates the understanding and continued support of all fans.
