Alvark win 88-81, sweep the season series against LG, remain No. 1 in Group C

Tokyo shoot 46.2% from 3, led by Kai Toews’ 5-for-7 performance, to take down the reigning KBL champions

What Happened

Alvark Tokyo closed out their season series against the Changwon LG Sakers with an 88-81 road win in Changwon. LG, the reigning KBL champions and current KBL leaders, were playing their final game of the 2025-26 EASL season. The last time these teams met in EASL, Alvark earned a 92-73 win on December 17.

LG started strong and led 30-24 after the first quarter, but the second period flipped the game as Alvark outscored LG by nine and carried that momentum through the finish. Despite traveling with just nine players, Alvark got big nights from Marcus Foster (27 points) and Sebastian Saiz (24), while Kai Toews added 19 points in under 30 minutes and went 5-for-7 from 3. For LG, Assem Marei posted 27 points and 10 rebounds, and Yu Kisang finished with 16 points on 66% shooting.

What It Means

For the home side, Changwon LG Sakers, this marked the end of their 2025–26 EASL campaign. They finished 1-5, with their lone win coming on December 9, 2025, when they beat the Xac Broncos 98–83 behind matching 21-point performances from Assem Marei and Yang Hongseok.

For Alvark Tokyo, the result keeps their momentum rolling. After dropping their season opener on October 8, they have now won three straight and improved to 3-1, sitting clear at the top of Group C with two games still to play.

Player of the Game: Kai Toews

Kai Toews earned Player of the Game honors after a lights-out shooting performance, delivering his best outing of the season with 19 points and a barrage of threes. Whether he was curling off screens or creating his own look, Toews consistently found space and punished the LG defense, which never truly had an answer once he got rolling.

He finished 5-for-7 from deep, good for 71.4% from three, and was perfect at the line (2-for-2). While his damage mostly came beyond the arc, his overall efficiency and shot-making rhythm completely shifted the game whenever Alvark needed a lift.

The performance also continues a strong stretch for Toews, who recently played an important role in Alvark Tokyo’s 101st Emperor’s Cup title run, the club’s third time winning the competition.

Super Statistic: 46.2% vs. 23.5%

The super statistic tonight came from beyond the arc, where Alvark Tokyo’s efficiency created the separation. Alvark knocked down 12 threes and shot 46.2% from deep, while the LG Sakers went 4-for-17 from three, finishing at 23.5%.

Alvark didn’t just make more 3’s, they made the most of their chances. Both teams found perimeter looks, but Alvark consistently converted theirs, and that gap in three-point efficiency ultimately proved decisive.

Next Up

There’s no next game for the Changwon LG Sakers. This was their sixth and final regular-season game of the 2025–26 EASL season, and they will not be moving on to the postseason.

Alvark Tokyo, meanwhile, returns to action on February 4 when they host the New Taipei Kings in the second and final meeting of the regular season. In the first matchup in New Taipei, Alvark earned a 107-89 win, powered by Sebastian Saiz, who scored 25 points on 83.3% shooting. After facing New Taipei, Alvark will have one regular-season game left, traveling to Mongolia to take on the Xac Broncos.
