GAME RECAP | Seoul SK Climb Atop Group A, Ride Monster 3rd Quarter to Down Taipei Fubon

Jameel Warney Drops 25, Becomes 1st to Reach 300 Career EASL Points as SK Claim Win

What Happened

Taipei Fubon controlled the first half and looked comfortable doing it. They won the first quarter 25-20, then took the second even more convincingly, 21-14, to carry a 46-34 lead into halftime. Playing with pace, they got into their sets cleanly and kept Seoul SK from building any real momentum.

But everything shifted in the third quarter. Seoul SK came out with a different level of urgency and physicality, ripping off a 32-15 period to flip the entire night and move in front 66–61 going into the fourth.

The run was not just shot-making. SK started creating extra possessions and easier looks, while Fubon’s offense stalled and got pushed into tougher attempts. Taipei stayed within reach late, but once SK took control in the middle of the game, they never fully gave it back, closing out an 88–79 win.

Fubon was led by Archie Goodwin III with 26 points and Troy Gillenwater with 17, with Chou Kuei Yu adding 14. SK was led by Jameel Warney with 25 points, with Arvin Tolentino scoring 24 and Darryl Monroe adding 20.

What It Means

With the win, Seoul SK secured its second straight victory and climbed atop the Group A standings, improving to 3-1. The result also handed Taipei Fubon its first loss of the season, dropping the reigning P. LEAGUE+ runners-up to 2-1 and into second place in the group.

With the postseason picture starting to take shape, this third win was a major one for SK as their path back toward the EASL Finals becomes clearer. For Fubon, the setback came against one of the region’s top sides, but it puts added pressure on their next outing as they look to regain ground in the standings.

Player of The Game: Jameel Warney

Jameel Warney delivered the moment of the night and the performance behind it. He finished with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals while playing the full 40 minutes, going 10-of-20 from the field and 3-of-3 at the line. After reaching 12 points in the second quarter on a midrange jumper, Warney became the first player in EASL history to reach 300 career points.

Warney’s impact was how steady he kept SK when the night was still being decided. Even while Taipei Fubon led at the half, he stayed productive at multiple levels, finishing inside (8-of-15 on 2’s) while also hitting from deep (2-of-5 from 3).

And when SK flipped the game in the third, Warney was on the floor for it. He finished +9, and SK consistently looked sharper and more in control with him out there during the swing stretch.

Super Statistic: 17

The third quarter decided tonight’s Christmas Eve showdown. Seoul SK outscored Taipei Fubon 32–15, turning a 12-point Taipei halftime lead into a 66–61 SK advantage heading into the fourth. After dropping both the first and second quarters and going into the break down 12, SK came out of halftime with their best stretch of the night and used it to take control.

SK won the game on extra possessions. They scored 11 points off turnovers compared to Taipei’s 4, and added 8 second-chance points to Taipei’s 2. Even with points in the paint basically even (SK 26, Taipei 24), SK generated offense through pressure and hustle, and that was the difference in the swing quarter.

Next Up

For Taipei Fubon, the schedule does not ease up after the loss. The Braves are back on the road on December 28, traveling to face Hong Kong Eastern at Southorn Stadium. That matchup carries added significance, with all proceeds going to charity to support relief, recovery, and reconstruction efforts following the Tai Po fires in Hong Kong.

For the Seoul SK Knights, their next outing also comes against Hong Kong Eastern, but later on the calendar. SK returns on January 7, heading to Southorn Stadium to face Eastern on the road.
