TNT GM speaks on EASL team impact and looks ahead to Wednesday's important clash

January 22, 2024 - Manila, Philippines

TNT Tropang Giga General Manager Jojo Lastimosa did a Q&A with EASL this weekend ahead of the team's final Group Stage game against EASL Champions Week and KBL champions Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters. Read what Lastimosa had to say about his team's season and how they're preparing their must-win game against Jung Kwan Jang this Wednesday.

What would it mean for the team to qualify for the EASL 2023-24 Final Four?

"Qualifying for the EASL Final Four would be a tremendous achievement for our team. It's a testament to the determination, and resilience of our players, coaching staff, and the entire organization. This is a goal we've been working towards since the beginning of the season, and securing a spot in the Final Four would not only elevate the profile of TNT on the international stage but also bring immense pride to our fans and supporters back home."

How is the team preparing for this crunch game?

"We're approaching this game with the utmost focus and intensity. The coaching staff is working closely with the players, analyzing our previous games and identifying key areas for improvement. We're fine-tuning our strategies, both offensively and defensively, to match up against Anyang's style of play. Our preparations are holistic, covering everything from on-court practice to video sessions, ensuring physical readiness and mental sharpness. We know the stakes, and we're leaving no stone unturned in our preparation."

What sort of challenge do you expect from Anyang?

"Anyang is a formidable opponent with a strong track record. They have a well-rounded team with a great mix of talent and experience. We expect them to come out aggressive, as they also have a lot at stake in this match. They're a disciplined and well-coached team, so we anticipate a tough, strategic game where execution and attention to detail will be crucial."

Who are Anyang's most dangerous players?

"Anyang boasts several players who can turn the game on its head. Their foreign imports usually bring a lot of firepower and experience, which can be a game-changer in high-pressure situations. We're also mindful of their local players who have the ability to step up and make significant contributions. We're preparing for all scenarios and making sure we respect the talent that Anyang brings to the court."

What has the experience of playing in EASL this season been like for TNT? How has the team grown and developed as a result?

"Playing in the EASL this season has been an incredible journey for TNT. The level of competition has pushed us to elevate our game and adapt to different styles of basketball. We've faced adversity and learned valuable lessons along the way. This experience has brought our team closer together, and we've seen growth both individually and collectively. Our players have developed a stronger basketball IQ, our team chemistry has improved, and our desire to succeed on an international level has never been higher. Regardless of the outcome, this season has been a catalyst for our development, and we'll continue to build on this foundation for the future of TNT basketball."

Both TNT Tropang Giga and Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters still have a chance of clinching a spot in the EASL Final Four.
