THE RUNDOWN

EASL touches down in Mongolia on Saturday, Nov 1, when the Xac Broncos host the New Taipei Kings. The Broncos top Group C at 1–0; the Kings are 0–1 and visit the KBL’s Changwon LG Sakers on Thursday, Oct 30.

The Broncos’ win came at Tip Off 2025, an 84–69 result over B.LEAGUE powerhouse Alvark Tokyo. It was a wire-to-wire effort with three players in double figures, led by new import center Efe Odigie with 25 points.

For New Taipei, this is a quick-turn test: after debuting last week, the Kings will play two road games in three days. By Saturday night they’ll have three EASL games on the books. A Broncos victory to 2–0 would give Mongolia’s club an early grip on Group C.

THE BRONCOS

The Broncos shocked the EASL world by going into Tokyo and beating Alvark decisively at EASL Tip Off 2025 on Oct. 8. Now they can move to 2–0, and they have the weapons to do it.

EASL Tip Off 2025 put the roster on full display. Point guard Barsbold Baatar-Erdene runs the show and hounds ball handlers, while import Ian Miller carries the offense with the green light to fire.

Up front, Azbayar Altangerel and Efe Odigie are a problem on the glass and at both ends, combining for 41 points, 17 rebounds, and 5 blocks. Note, too, that Alvark’s 69 points remain the season low across EASL’s first six games.

THE KINGS

How the Kings shape up for this game — from the projected starting five to the game plan — depends heavily on how they fare against Group C’s Korean representatives, the LG Sakers. If New Taipei evens its record at 1–1, it could enter M Bank Arena in Ulaanbaatar with newfound confidence. If it falls to 0–2 in Changwon, a sense of urgency will travel with them to Mongolia.

The focal points remain the same. They need Joseph Lin to produce as the floor general and big offensive nights from stars like Jayden Gardner and Sani Sakakini. For scorers such as Lee Kai Yan and Lin Yan Ting, an extra push would help against a strong LG backcourt.

Given the road swing and short turnaround, expect more faces in the rotation to steal a shift. Jason Washburn — used sparingly for NTK in 2024–25 — could see more minutes, while rookie Ryder Hsiung has emerged as a pleasant surprise domestically for New Taipei and may earn additional time despite his inexperience.

SPOTLIGHT STORYLINE

THE RACE TO 2-0

The Xac Broncos could be the first team in EASL’s expanded 12-team 2025–26 season to reach 2–0. It would be the only time an expansion team opened with two straight wins.

EASL began with eight teams in 2023–24, then expanded to 10 in 2024–25 with Hong Kong Eastern and the Macau Black Bears. Both finished 3–3 and both dropped their first game. Now, with EASL partnering with Mongolia’s “The League,” the Broncos are on the brink of adding another first to the record book.
