THE RUNDOWN
Taipei Fubon and Seoul SK meet on Christmas Eve for the first time in 2025-26 with the top of Group A on the line. The Braves are EASL’s lone unbeaten team at 2-0 and can move to 3-0 with a win, keeping themselves in first place. They have held the top spot in Group A for nearly the entire season, entering Week 10 still in control. However, Seoul SK has a chance to flip the standings in one night.
The Knights arrive with momentum after an 84-78 win over reigning B.LEAGUE champions Utsunomiya Brex. That result lifted SK into second last week, and another win would push them into first place, making it back-to-back weeks of movement up the table.
Archie Goodwin is the engine for the Braves, coming in as EASL’s second-leading scorer at 34.5 points per game through two outings. For Seoul SK, the man to watch is Jameel Warney, who recently became the third member of the 200-point, 100-rebound club in league history and remains EASL’s all-time leading scorer.
THE BRAVES
Taipei Fubon comes into Christmas Eve with one of the league’s best offensive arsenals. Archie Goodwin leads the way, but Troy Gillenwater and Mouhamed Mbaye give the Braves a real three-headed scoring punch. The trio combined for 77 points in a 95-81 win over Hong Kong Eastern on December 13, with Goodwin and Gillenwater scoring 26 each and Mbaye adding 25.
Fubon also got solid minutes from the supporting cast against Eastern. Backup guard Chen Yu-Wei chipped in eight points in nearly 20 minutes, while new Asian import Aaron Geramipoor made his EASL debut and gives them added size when Gillenwater rests.
The key for Fubon in this upcoming showdown with SK is the frontcourt matchup. Seoul SK’s offense runs through import bigs Darryl Monroe and Jameel Warney, who, between them, either lead or sit at the top of the team in points, rebounds, and assists. If Mbaye and Gillenwater can set the tone defensively and limit that duo, it cuts into SK’s scoring, rebounding, and playmaking at the source.
THE SK KNIGHTS
For Seoul SK, it starts with the same two names: Jameel Warney and Darryl Monroe. In their 84-78 win over Utsunomiya on December 17, Monroe logged nearly 40 minutes and finished with 17 points, 14 rebounds, and three assists. Warney played the full 40 and posted 22 points on 45% shooting, 12 rebounds, and four assists.
There were a few important supporting notes from that win. Eighteen-year-old Daniel Edi made his EASL debut and gave SK 20 minutes, scoring five points and getting to the line twice. The Knights are also set to welcome back guard Oh Jaehyun, who has not played since the season-opener on October 22 and still owns the single-game steals high this season with five. At the same time, the Knights will be without Lee Minseo again.
If SK are going to take another step forward on the road, it could come down to perimeter shot-making and bench production around the Warney-Monroe tandem. An Young-jun provided a glimpse of that last time out, scoring 16 points off the bench on 50% shooting, and a similar contribution would give SK another scoring option as the 2023-24 EASL runners-up look to build momentum and challenge for a second straight win.
SPOTLIGHT STORYLINE
THE FIRST TO 300
The spotlight stays on Jameel Warney, who is closing in on another EASL milestone. The league’s all-time leading scorer sits at 288 career points and needs 12 more to become the first player to reach 300.
Warney’s résumé is not built on scoring alone. He ranks top in points, is fifth in total rebounds (109), sits inside the top 10 in assists, and is also fifth in total blocks, underscoring how complete his impact has been in EASL. Add in his standing in the KBL, including being a multi-time import MVP, and the next 12 points would be another historical marker for one of the league’s defining players.
