GAME RECAP | Taoyuan skies to a 95-83 win, moves to 4-1 on the season

Alec Brown’s 35 points and 13 rebounds give Taoyuan 4 EASL wins for a 2nd straight season.

What Happened

Taoyuan Pauian Pilots defeated Macau Black Bears 95-83 to improve to 4-1 on the season. The win keeps Taoyuan atop Group B and completes a season sweep of Macau, who fall to 0–5.

Alec Brown led the way with a game-high 35 points and 13 rebounds, as Taoyuan placed four players in double figures. The biggest difference came inside, where the Pilots dominated points in the paint 56-22.

Macau had five players score in double digits, led by Omari Peek-Green’s 25 points, but Taoyuan controlled the game for most of the night and remain in strong position to reach their second straight EASL postseason.

What It Means

For Taoyuan, today’s win moves them to 4-1 and puts them in a strong position atop Group B. Qualification is not yet officially clinched, with Ryukyu Golden Kings and Meralco Bolts still having remaining games that could impact the final standings. Even so, Taoyuan remain firmly in the driver’s seat.

For Macau, the result does not change their postseason outlook. They entered the game already mathematically eliminated, and the loss drops them to 0-5. With no remaining path forward, Macau are set to finish at the bottom of Group B.

Player Of The Game: Alec Brown

Alec Brown put together a monster night with 35 points and 13 rebounds, setting a new Taoyuan single-game scoring high in EASL play across this season and last season. The previous mark belonged to Lu Chun-Hsiang, who dropped 33 points against Hong Kong Eastern in February, 2025.

Brown was efficient from everywhere. He went 13-for-22 (59.1%) from the field, knocked down four 3s, and was a perfect 5-for-5 at the free throw line. He also impacted the game defensively with four blocks, finishing with a plus-13 in just under 34 minutes.

Super Statistic: 54.3%

Taoyuan shot 54.3% from the field, marking the highest team field goal percentage in franchise EASL history across 13 total games dating back to their debut season in 2024–25.

The previous high came on December, 11, 2024 at the Macau Classic, when Taoyuan shot 54.05% in a 100–64 win over Suwon KT Sonicboom at Studio City Event Center. This performance narrowly surpasses that mark.

The efficiency was led by Alec Brown’s monster night, but it was far from a one-man show. Lu Chun-Hsiang shot 53.9%, Chen Chiang-Shuang went 60%, and Will Artino added 17 points in 27 minutes while shooting 58.3% from the floor.

Overall, three players shot 75% from two-point range, while two others finished at 60% or higher, with all but one of those players reaching double figures.

Next Up

This marked the fifth EASL game of the regular season for both teams, with each club playing just six games total. That leaves one remaining game on the schedule for Taoyuan and Macau.

For the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots, their final regular-season game comes on February 4, when they travel to Okinawa to face the Ryukyu Golden Kings, with tip-off set for 6:30 PM JST.

Macau Black Bears will close their season earlier, playing their final game on January 21 against the Ryukyu Golden Kings at Ninoy Aquino Stadium, located in Manila, the Philippines. Tip-off for that matchup is scheduled for 7:30 PM PHT
