The Macau Black Bears return to EASL 2025-26 as Macau SAR champions, looking to build on their debut success.
The Macau Black Bears have qualified for the 2025-26 EASL season as champions of Macau SAR, marking their second consecutive campaign in the league. In their EASL debut, Macau posted a 3-3 record and secured third place in Group B.
Macau quickly proved itself as one of Asia’s rising teams during the 2024-25 season, making headlines as early as the second gameday. After an opening loss to the Philippines’ Meralco Bolts, the Black Bears earned their first EASL victory by defeating the New Taipei Kings, led by superstar guard Jeremy Lin.
The team, however, was unable to sustain its momentum, falling in a tight contest against Japan’s B.LEAGUE finalists, the Ryukyu Golden Kings, and losing a rematch to New Taipei in January. While Macau swept the season series against the then-KBL champions, the Busan KCC Egis, it wasn’t enough to clinch a postseason berth.
This offseason, the Black Bears have stayed active, winning three consecutive legs of The Asian Tournament (TAT), most recently in Shanxi, China. On July 28, the day of their EASL qualification announcement, Macau is set to face the Philippine National Team in an exhibition game before Gilas Pilipinas departs for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Details on Macau’s full EASL roster will be announced in the coming weeks.
