East Asia Super League Champions Week: Day Two Review

Seoul SK Knights and Ryukyu Golden Kings finished with wins on day two of EASL Champions Week

On day two of EASL Champions Week, the exciting action continued as the Bay Area Dragons faced off against Seoul SK Knights in the first game of the day. The game, at Nikkan Arena Tochigi in Utsunomiya, tipped-off a match-up between two powerhouses.

After a competitive game, Seoul SK Knights came away with a 92 to 84 victory. The Knights came back from a double-digit deficit in the second half, showing resilience and teamwork. Jameel Warney of the Knights finished with 30 points and 19 to lead his team to victory.

The loss puts the Bay Area Dragons behind SK Knights and Utsunomiya Brex in Group B. The Dragons put up a strong fight, but could not match the Knights’ firepower. Andrew Nicholson was the standout player for the Dragons, scoring a game-high 35 points with 15 rebounds.

In the second game of the day, the Ryukyu Golden Kings get the important win against San Miguel Beermen to conclude day two of EASL Champions Week, with a final score of 96 to 68. Jack Cooley led the way with 20 points and 16 rebounds.

Though the team came up short, Cameron Clark from the Beermen showed why he remains an important part of his team, recording 25 points with 11 FGM.

The wins shoots Seoul SK Knights and Ryukyu Golden Kings into commanding spots in their respective group standings, getting them closer to the coveted spot at the Championship game in Okinawa on March 5. The winner of each group lands themselves a chance to win the Championship, while the runners-up of each group will playin the third-place game.

On day three, TNT Tropang Giga will take on Seoul SK Knights at 17:00 JST / 16:00 China Time / 16:00 Philippines Time, while Utsunomiya Brex will look to go undefeated in the group stage against the Bay Area Dragons at 19:30 JST / 18:30 China Time / 16:00 Philippines Time.
