GAME RECAP | Seoul SK Defeats Hong Kong Eastern 94-87 In Warney’s Historical Night

Jameel Warney Becomes EASL’s All-Time Leading Scorer as Seoul SK Eases Past Hong Kong Eastern

What Happened

In Seoul SK’s 2025–26 home debut, the 2023–24 EASL runners-up captured their first win of the season, defeating Hong Kong Eastern 94–87. In a high-scoring first quarter that totaled 52 points, Seoul trailed 27–25 at home but picked it up in the second, putting together a dominant 28–12 run to build a lead that held the rest of the way despite narrowly dropping each of the final two periods.

Four-time KBL Import MVP Jameel Warney led Seoul SK with 34 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, and the hosts had three other players in double figures. Lee Minseo poured in 20, while reigning local MVP An Young Jun added 13 in his first EASL game of the season after missing the opener due to injury.

Three Hong Kong Eastern players reached the 20-point mark, led by new signing Dominic Gilbert with 23. Jenning Leung, a surprise offseason pickup from the Macau Black Bears, drilled seven three-pointers in his 2025–26 EASL debut for his new team.

Despite outrebounding Seoul SK 35–32, Hong Kong Eastern committed 17 turnovers, including seven in the third quarter, which undercut multiple comeback tries and allowed Seoul to keep them at arm’s length.

What It Means
Seoul SK picked up its first win of the 2025–26 campaign in its EASL home debut, and it was also the first victory by any KBL team this season. The club remains third in Group A behind the top-placed Taipei Fubon Braves and reigning B.LEAGUE champions Utsunomiya Brex.

Hong Kong Eastern fell to 0–1 in its EASL opener, the same start it had in 2024–25 as an expansion team. Eastern sits at the bottom of Group A for now, but it is only one game into the season, with plenty of time to build.

EASL Player Of The Game: Jameel Warney

In another dominant EASL performance from Jameel Warney, this one came with a historic benchmark. Entering the game, Warney needed just one basket to become EASL’s all-time leading scorer, and he got it in style with a ferocious two-handed putback slam off a missed three.

He finished with seven rebounds and six assists in an all-around night. Late in the fourth, with Seoul SK up 10 and the clock winding down, Warney broke out the full bag, crossing up Hong Kong’s new import center Alexandre Gavrilovic before stepping back and drilling a three to ice it. It was a statement from the big man, a reminder of who he is after earning a unanimous All-EASL Team nod in 2023–24.

Super Statistic: 266

Once the league’s all-time leading scorer after the 2023–24 season with 209 points and a runners-up finish with Seoul SK, Jameel Warney saw his mark surpassed by New Taipei Kings guard Kenny Manigault, who hit 232 points in 2024–25.

Warney evened it up in Seoul SK’s season opener this campaign and moved past it today against Hong Kong Eastern with 34 points. He now sits at 266 and, by the looks of it, should hold the crown at least through the end of the regular season.

Another milestone is coming fast: the 100-rebound club. Warney is just three boards away after grabbing seven today. He is set to join Ryukyu Golden Kings big man Jack Cooley, former teammate Leon Williams (who played for Seoul SK and Busan KCC Egis last year), and Manigault.

Next Up

Seoul SK now has nearly a month off after facing Hong Kong Eastern. They do not return to EASL action until December 17, when they host the Utsunomiya Brex for the second time this season after a 97–89 road loss on October 22.

Hong Kong Eastern has a similar break and resumes on December 13, traveling to Taipei Heping Gymnasium to face Group A leaders Taipei Fubon Braves, who will be playing their first EASL game since Tip Off on October 8.
